Dr. Robert Webb Simmons (Bob) Obituary

Dalton, Georgia - Dr. Bob (Robert Webb Simmons) likely used one last explicative as he fell last Monday night and died. Bob marched to the beat of his own drum from October 8, 1939 to March 31, 2026. Sometimes, his family and friends heard it too. Regardless of who else heard it, he followed it with confidence.

Bob's children and patients often saw his wise and concerned side as he would peer over the top of his glasses to make sure they understood the gravity of the situation. His family and select others got to see his goofy and irreverent side too.

Bob was a doctor. He knew he wanted to be a doctor at age 4, and he was a doctor until the end. The only unfinished task on Bob's ToDo list was to outlive his last patient Eileen, his treasured wife of 32 years.

He was exceedingly proud of graduating from LaGrange High, the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia, serving in the Air Force, being a founding partner in Dalton Family Practice, and his pioneering addiction medicine practice. (He followed that part of his own advice for 41 years.)

If you wanted to see Bob beam, you would ask him about his grandchildren. Well, even if you didn't ask, he would tell you anyway. He relished the opportunity to have them in his living room and Hold Forth on topics of politics, spirituality, religion, love, UGA football, and life's other mysteries. We are sure that he is doing the same with his favorite relatives Grandma Patterson, Aunt Dot, and Aunt Georgia in the Great Beyond. They may even be getting in a word edgewise.

The world is a different place without Bob Simmons in it. His story continues in those who survive him.
