Dalton - Richard Gribble Sr., age 84, of Dalton, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Opal Gribble; brothers, Donald, Ray, Kenneth, Cecil, Paul, and Harold Gribble; and sister, Beatrice Davis.

Richard loved his family very much. He worked as a mechanic at Whitfield County Schools for many years. Richard never met a stranger and would help anyone that he met.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Gribble; son, Johnny Gribble Jr. of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Todd Deal of Chatsworth; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and Ray Bishop of Tunnel Hill and Brenda West of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy Gribble of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Tabitha (Ed) McEntire and Hunter Deal; and great-grandchildren, Rayne and Jett McEntire.

The funeral service will be held at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Alan Ledford officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
