Cohutta, GA - Ray Trotter, age 82, of Cohutta, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Hamilton Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Rogers and Francis Trotter; brother, Steven Rogers Trotter; uncle, Ray Jenkins.

Ray taught in the Whitfield County School system for over 30 years and was named teacher of the year in 1998. He was a published writer. He was proud to have served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Leona Trotter; son, Rogers and Danielle Trotter of Ringgold; sister, Fran and Rob Goddard of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Penny and Rhett Trotter of Ringgold.

A service will be held at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM with his son Roger Trotter giving the eulogy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in Tellico Plains.
