Mr. Ray Hall Obituary

Dalton, Georgia - Mr. Boyce Ray Hall, known throughout his life by everyone who knew and loved him as 'Ray,' age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Ray was born on Friday, November 9, 1945, in Malta, Texas, to the late Mr. Robert Virgil Hall, Jr., and the late Mrs. Helen Louise Langford Eleton.

As a young adult, Ray was fortunate to live with several families that deeply impacted his life. He forged lasting friendships and considered these families as his special family. Dad loved each and every one of you and your families: Ben and Lois Gazaway, Richard and Carol Jackson, Delbert and Ruth Bond, Travis and May Langford, and Willie and Margaret Howard.

Ray truly lived his life in service to others. He was a talented and skilled master carpenter and could build anything that he set his mind to. He was a faithful, active, lifelong member of The Church of God of The Union Assembly. According to his family, the most important things in his life were his faith, his family, and 'those low-down sorry good for nothin' cockeyed Braves' (his words exactly).

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Blakeman, Genearl Hall, and his grandparents, Robert Virgil Hall, Sr., and Golden Adel Hall.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sonja Ellen Hall, as well as his two daughters, Rachelle Shirah and Selina Hall, and his son, Demerias (Brandi) Hall. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Benji Cole Shirah, Taylor (Madison) Shirah, Elle Shirah, Sidney Wheeler, Dillon (Cassidi) Hall, Macie Hall, and Sophia Ruiz. Ray is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Baker Reed Shirah and Rosie Hall, as well as his 'other son,' Jason (Amanda) Whitener.

Ray is also survived by his siblings: Joiceanne Hall, Roger Hall, Robbie (Paul Imhof) Brown, Rita Ledford, Lane (Miranda) Hall, and Lisa (Colburn) Lowman.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate Ray's life will be conducted on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 12:00 noon in the Sanctuary of the Church of God of The Union Assembly with Rev. Dr. Dale Brewer, Rev. Ryan Pratt, Rev. Justin Faulknor, Pastor Stoney Kiser, and Rev. Chastain Moody officiating. Ray will lie in state at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the service hour. The family has asked Mr. Benji Cole Shirah, Mr. Taylor Shirah, Mr. Sidney Wheeler, Mr. Dillon Hall, Mr. Blake Estes, and Mr. Matthew Faulknor to serve as pallbearers. Additionally, the family has asked Mr. Dono Butler, Mr. Raymond 'Chub' Carrell, Mr. Daniel Duke, Mr. Doyle Faulknor, Mr. Herbert Faulknor, Mr. Lemuel Faulknor, Mr. Scott Faulknor, Mr. Reggie Gazaway, Mr. Steve Hall, Mr. Waylon Hall, Mr. Lamar Kitchens, and Herman Pratt, Jr. to serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday evening, November 28, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of the Church of God of The Union Assembly.
