Ralph Willard Wheat
Mr. Ralph Willard Wheat, 81, of Eton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday evening, November 30, 2019 at Morningside Assisted Living in Dalton, Georgia surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Wheat was born in Calhoun, Georgia on January 25, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Willard and Ivey Burns Wheat. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Randall Wheat. Prior to retirement he had worked as an Electrician at Shaw Industries for over seventeen years. Mr. Wheat was a member of the Eton Masonic Lodge #509. He was a hot rod and classic car enthusiast and loved attending the Rod Run Car Show. He enjoyed wood working in his spare time. Mr. Wheat never met a stranger. His family will always remember him as the genuine, old school, good and honest gentleman that he was.
Mr. Wheat is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Dorothy Anne Carver Wheat, to whom he was married to on June 25, 1959; sons and a daughter-in-law, Chad and Pam Wheat of Chatsworth, Rickey Wheat of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Tabatha and Tip Cobb of Chatsworth; brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Louise Wheat of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and George Morrison of Ringgold, Joannne and Jimmy Teasley of Dalton, and Darlene Pritchard of Trion; grandchildren, Whitney and Blane Gibson, Trevor Cobb, Sarah Wheat, Chloe Wheat, Hannah Smith, Abby and Jacob Chambers, and Camden Chambers who will arrive in February 2020; great-grandchildren, Tryg Weaver, AnnaCait Gibson, Granger Cobb, Oliver Smith, and Charleigh Smith.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Ralph Wheat will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Troy Chastain and Billy Starks officiating. Following the service Mr. Wheat will be laid to rest at Center Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside honors presented by the Eton Masonic Lodge. George Morrison, Jacob Chambers, Charles Tinsley, Calvin Wheat, Trevor Cobb and Tip Cobb will all be honored to serve as pallbearers.
The Wheat family will receive friends on Monday, December 2, 2019 between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM and on Tuesday December 3, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to everyone at Morningside Assisted Living in Dalton for taking excellent care of Mr. Wheat.
