Peggy Ann Melton, a beloved special child of God, went home to her Heavenley Father on Saturday, December 14, 2024. She was 75 years old and a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. Peggy's life was a testament to pure joy, unconditional love, and the simple, beautiful ways in which God's grace touches our hearts.

Peggy never met a stranger and never forgot a face, a reflection of her extraordinary ability to make everyone she met feel loved and valued. Peggy especially cherished her weekly shopping trips with her mom and Delmar, which brought her so much joy and created treasured memories. She found immense happiness in watching Zach's swim meets and loved her days spent at the Cross Plains Adult Daycare, where she was surrounded by friends and caregivers who adored her. Peggy also had a special fondness for her baby dolls, which brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.

Her family and friends will always remember Peggy's warm spirit and her ability to light up any room with her smile. She reminded everyone around her of the beauty of God's love and the importance of kindness, patience, and compassion.

Peggy is survived by Delmar Darnell, as well as many friends who were touched by her life. She is also survived by Debbie Broome with whom she had lived for the last 15 years and who was like her second mother. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Melton, and mother, Macie Darnell.

The family extends special thanks to Peggy's caregivers: Gladys Headrick, Chris Headrick, Paula Elrod, Jacob Headrick, Zach Broome, Nikki Chastain, Della Shaw, Lisa Silvers, Shardinea Smith, Mandy Hughett, Hannah Abdul-Majid, Holly Poullas, the staff of Amedisys Home Health, and Hamilton Physicians Group - Murray Campus.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Corbin and Rev. Steve Corbin officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Rest in peace, sweet Peggy. You will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of God's special blessings.
