Chatsworth, GA - Novis Ray Davis, age 89 of Chatsworth, Ga passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his wife, children, and family.
Novis was born in Chatsworth, Georgia on July 29, 1936. He owned and operated a restaurant business in Chatsworth for more than 50 years. During that time, he interacted with many customers. However the highlight of his early mornings at The Crème Hut was having coffee with his friends, "The Breakfast Club" which included Bill Hansird, Tom Ramsey, Billy Townsend, James (Syrupy) Adams, Jack Hawkins, Bucky Crisp, James Powell, Bob Wilson, Junior Long, Bruce Kendrick, Bobby Mosteller, and Barry Minter to name just a few.
Novis was a member of Free Hope Baptist Church of Chatsworth. He enjoyed going to church and teaching Sunday School. Novis was a man of deep and strong Christian faith who loved to share his testimony and the word of God with anyone daily. Novis asked someone every day if they knew about his Jesus and his message of salvation and eternal life.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Evon Davis, his parents, Newman R. and Bernice Parrott Davis, and his sister, Charlotte Davis Clark.
Novis is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley Baggett Davis, his beloved children, daughters, Angie (Clay) Powell, Noviena (Jeff) Cloer, and son, Nathan Davis of Chatsworth.
His beloved grandchildren, Cayla (Nathan) West of Ellijay, Ga., Karissa (Lucas) Jones, Will (Cassidy) Powell and Karley Davis, Chad (Kala) Cloer, Joey Cloer all of Chatsworth, Ga. Andrew (Kayla) Powell of Dalton, Ga and Lauren Powell of Cohutta, Ga.
Also surviving are his beloved fourteen great grandchildren ranging in age from 1 year to 18 years old. His sister-in-law, Julia Baggett and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The service to celebrate the life of Novis Ray Davis will be held on Monday, August 18 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
The service will be conducted by Pastor Harold Poteet, Jimmy Phillips and Novis' granddaughter, Cayla West will share a heartfelt tribute on behalf of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Music and songs by Larry Haynes and Mark Talley.
Pallbearers will be Will Powell, Nathan West, Haden West, Mason West, Joey Cloer, Chad Cloer, Lucas Jones and Andrew Powell.
Peeples Funeral Home and Crematory of Chatsworth have been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Novis Davis.
