Dalton, Georgia - Nancy Wade Coile Gregg, age 92 of Dalton, passed away on June 25, 2025. She was born April 7, 1933 in Cuthbert, Georgia, daughter of William Vernon and Nellie Wade Coile. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 43 years, Dr. L. N. "Smiley" Gregg. She is survived by her sons Stephen (Lisa) and David Gregg, Paula Gregg, grandchildren Thomas Gregg, Nellie Gregg, Sayward Smith (Shawn), Silvey Gregg, great-grandson John Michael Smith, special cousin Terri Harper of Fernandina, Florida, along with several nephews and nieces. Nancy taught in Georgia Public Schools for 30 years, 27 of those years as a second-grade teacher at Morris Street and Roan Street School. She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of First United Methodist Church in Dalton and the Friendship Sunday School Class. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of Dalton First United Methodist on Thursday, July 10th at 2:00 P.M., with the Reverend Chip Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 1:45 P.M. in the atrium of First United Methodist Church. A private graveside service will be held earlier in the day for the family, with the Reverend Brian Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Dalton First United Methodist Church Music Fund, DOC-UP Dalton, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Georgia Mountains, or your favorite charity.
