Dalton, GA - After 15 long years of battling Dementia, a disease without a cure, she is now in
Heavenly peace.
Linda, the daughter of William 'Bill' Thompson and Ruth Fowler Thompson, is
survived by her husband of 61 years, Warren Lamar Sims, her kid,s Mikey Sims, Rob
Wilson Sims, Angie Jennings, Kimberly Biddy, and her siblings David and Gordon.
As an honors graduate from Valley Point High School, she went on to continue the
honor graduate placement at Georgia Trade School, where she met her future
husband, Lamar.
In 1973, Linda was named "Woman of the Year" by the Dalton Citizen News for her
efforts in the construction of Brookwood Park, dedicated in 1974.
In 1984, Linda graduated Summa cum laude in accounting from Dalton Junior
College; a week after her son, Mikey, graduated from Dalton High School.
Linda loved to go on cruises and attend UGA football games (GO DAWGS!). She
had a dinner group of folks who met six nights a week. Thank you to those who
made them special.
We are most grateful to Penny Jackson, Freida Evans, and Amy Prickett, RN of
the Legit Tender Loving Caregivers, who tended to Linda day and night since July
2016. Also, special appreciation to Tim Winterbotton and Zeidi Magãna for their
Contributions to Linda's care. Finally, thanks to the Heartlite Hospice and their
house call nurses and those giving her care and comfort.
Visitation with the family will be from 4-7 pm on Monday, April 28, at Shawn's
