Larry Leon Jett Obituary

Dalton, Georgia - Larry Leon Jett, 92, of Dalton passed away on April 15, 2025.

Leon was born on October 25, 1932, in Buford, GA to the late H.G. and Willie Mathis Jett. He was also preceded in death by his first and second wife, Betty and Hazel Jett; son, David; daughter, Patti; stepson, Gary; siblings, Joe, Harry, Dorothy, Donald, Bill, Barbara, and Charles.

Leon was very proud of his service to his country. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He then worked as a military inspector for the state of South Carolina for 20 years. Everyone he encountered was always greeted with a smile and a loud hello. He loved his mother and always made sure she was taken care of no matter how far away he might have been from home. He cherished his wife Hazel, the home they created and the poetry she wrote for family. He had a tremendous love of family and took great pride in preparing and recording his family reunion albums with quirky comments. Even later in life he would always smile when looking at pictures. Leon was a fifty-year member of the Grand Lodge of Free Masons of South Carolina and loved being part of the Shriner Clown group. He enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, baseball memorabilia, music and movies. He also had an extensive collection of ceramic clowns. Although he might not have shown it, he had a big heart and impeccable traits as a true southern gentleman. He will be missed by all that ever had the pleasure of sharing part of their life with him.

He is survived by his sisters, Brenda Patterson (John Jr.), and Nelda Jett; special niece, Ginger Regil; stepdaughters, Pam Seener (Stan), and Debbie Chapman (Jonathan); stepson, Rick Morris (Tammy); sister-in-law, Eleanor Jett; brother-in-law, Bob Keener.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 10th in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 until 11. Leon will be laid to rest in Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
