MR. JULIAN M. BOWIE, SR. - AGE 83- Of Dalton, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was born on March 6, 1937 to the late Julian Bowie and Ruth Taylor Bowie. He was preceded by his brothers, David Bowie and John Henry Bowie and grandson, James Andrew Cooper. In 1965, he was the first black member of the National Guard. He was also a member of the Army and the Air Force. He was employed by Shelby Peeples and Family at Crystal Products. He is a former member of Liberty Baptist Church and he attended Mount Ridge Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janie L. Satterwhite Bowie; son, Julian M. Bowie, Jr.; two daughters, Francena Lewis and Bernadette Bowie (Dennis) Whatley; the Lord also had him to raise a special young lady, Bridgette Hill; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Sprowl, Maryhill Smith, Ann (Reuben) Suttles, and Sheryl Ensley; brother, Robert (Josefina) Bowie; aunt, Jean Davis; sister-in-law, Renee Bowie; godchildren, Sharon Whitehead, Ladonna Nichols, and Shunyelle Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Cross Pointe Church, 2681 Underwood St. Dalton, GA 30721, in the parking lot with Dr. Jerry Jones as Eulogist. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, November 13, 2020 from 6:00-7:30 P.M. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc.
