John William "J.W." Collins, 85, of the Gordon Springs community, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Trudy Masters Collins; daughter, Marcia Collins Nix; son, Stan Collins.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Dell Roach Collins of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Brenda Collins of Rocky Face; son-in-law, Claude Nix Jr.; grandchildren, Cindy and Lee Barnes, Jenny and Chris Cantrell, Sarah Welch, Patrick and Laura Nix, Brad Nix, Kasey and Chris Richburg, Christopher Collins and Becky Wilson; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Maggie Cantrell, Katie Barnes, Will Barnes, Andrew Welch, Eli Welch, Addelyn Nix, Noah Treadwell, Raynor Golson; great-great-grandchild, Lane Carl Cantrell; sisters, Doris Bankson of Ft. Oglethorpe, Vera Durall of Huntsville, Ala., and Carolyn and Andy Nutis of St. Louis.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Millican and Pastor Danny Goss officiating. Burial will be in Dunnagan Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
