Jim Rader Obituary

Dalton - Jim Rader, 79, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024.

The son of an Army officer, Jim was born in Johnstown, PA, and spent his childhood in many locations: Sewickley, PA; Washington, PA; Hope, IN; Manhattan, KS; and Leipheim, Germany. He particularly enjoyed his high school years in Florence, AL, where he graduated from Coffee High School, class of '63.

Jim was a proud alumnus of Auburn University, earning a Bachelor's of Industrial Engineering in 1969.

He and his wife lived in Pensacola, FL, where they enjoyed sailing, and later in Winchester, TN, before

moving to Dalton in 1978. An avid golfer, he frequently played at Nob North. Jim loved his family, animals, and spent his retirement traveling and watching Auburn football.

He was preceded in death his parents, Major Leroy H. Rader and Ruth Annette Rader.

He is survived by his son, Rich Rader of Cohutta; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jeremy Braddy of Calhoun; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Nancy Rader of Tallassee, AL; grandchildren, Caroline and

Ailee Roberson; nieces, Beth (Bo) Rader and Amy Rader; the mother of his children, Jeanette Henderson

Rader; his devoted companion, Sanna Wagner; a nephew, Patrick Whitlock; his dog, Daisy; and his cat, Cootie.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the Pleasant Grove Chapel

of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Noel Caldwell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm until

3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Northwest Georgia Humane Society.
