Dalton, Georgia - James H. Ward, age 94 of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Regency Park and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, April 17th. He was born on February 5, 1932 in Pulaski, Tennessee to the late Donald and Ada Ward.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Wanda Ward. He is survived by his son, Tracy Ward and his wife Beth, grandson Patrick Ward and his wife Megan, and grandson, Jeff Ward. Jimmy is also survived by his son Danny Ward and his wife Beth, Grandson Zach Ward and his wife Emily, and grandson Tyler Ward and wife Louisa. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Ivy and Cooper Ward.
Jimmy came to Dalton in 1954 to teach school. He met his wife Wanda at First Baptist Church. Jimmy loved teaching and had a great impact on many students. Jimmy taught for 31 years at North Dalton School and Fort Hill School.
Jimmy was a gifted teacher and loved his students. His influence was felt across many generations. He always encouraged his students to reach their fullest potential. After retirement from Dalton Public Schools, he worked 10 years at Brown Printing.
Jimmy was a long time member at First Baptist Church of Dalton. He was a very caring person who gave of his time and talents by helping the church through Senior Adult Ministry Activities. He never met a stranger and shared his heart with others.
Services were held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Dalton with visitation from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.; with the service at 4:00 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary.
The family requests flowers be omitted and memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Dalton.
