Dalton, Georgia - James "Ray" Triplett, age 83, of Dalton, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Nolan Triplett and Grace Graybeal Triplett; and brother, Joe Triplett.

Ray was the epitome of open arms; he was a selfless giver, a lover, a kind hearted Samaritan to anyone in need. Above all he loved his family and was a father and grandfather like no other. Without doubt when he met his Savior he was welcomed as the good and faithful servant he has always been to his wife Holly of 63 years and to his children. He lived a life of humility and gentleness, with patience and unwavering love. To many he was called "Granddaddy," and whether those who called him this were related by blood or by heart, he patted his lap and invited them onto his rocking chair and into his heart. Until his last breath, he took care of his wife and his family, by cheering from the bleachers at sporting events, sponsoring church missions, even just walking to the mailbox and delivering the family mail. He will be missed like no other, yet the mission of his life will now be carried out in the love he has instilled in others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Holly Johnson Triplett; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Grace Triplett of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Triplett and Matt Baughman of Dalton; brother, Steven Dale Triplett of North Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Riley, Carter, Molly, Abigail, and Nolan Triplett, Ella, Savannah, and Anthony Walker-Triplett, and Grace, Jaymes, Kole, and Ian Walker; great-grandchild, Luca Owens; nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to his granddaughter Riley Triplett's personal ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at https://my.fca.org/?form=RileyTriplett

The funeral services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
