Chatsworth, GA - James, "Jim" Reid passed away on June 20, 2026, at age 90, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was preceded in death and is now reunited with his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean Reid; his cherished daughter, Terry Glenn; his parents, James and Dagny Reid; and his sister, Ellen Bentsen.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Hester, Linda Ray and Barbara Reid; his grandchildren, Crystal Sims, Devon (Eric) Crump, Christopher (Kisha) Ray and Brittany (Jason) Raye; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol (Lew) Moore; his faithful canine companion Bailey and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

From a young age Jim possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for farming. He began working in his father's floor finishing business when he was 9 years old. As an adult, he worked for Gold Kist and did concrete projects at Carter's Dam and several nuclear plants. Eventually, he started his own Concrete Repair service and later Vinyl Fence Fabricators. Having a farm of his own was a lifelong dream. It encompassed not only his love of working the land but also his deep desire to see the family he dearly loved working together. He taught them farming skills but also life skills. He always put others first and was willing to help anyone that needed it. He was kind and generous to all. He always had a positive and grateful attitude, and his sense of humor brought laughter and joy to each day.

Jim inspired his family and others to work hard, care deeply, and be better versions of themselves. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the family he loved, the farm he and Jean built, and the many lives he touched. As the cornerstone of his family, Jim leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication for generations to come.

To honor his wishes, there will not be a funeral, but there will be a Celebration of Life on August 22, 2026, for him and Jean at the family farm.
