James Theron "J.T." Quarles, 84, of Tunnel Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 3, at his home.
He was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Gilmer County to the late James Robert and Ella Hensley Quarles. He was a member of North Whitfield Baptist Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jessie Charles, Everett, Ernest, Cecil and Olen Quarles; five sisters, Ernestine Quarles, Verna Mullinax, Versie Jones, and Muriel Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Smith Sisson Quarles; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Janet Quarles of Tunnel Hill, Ricky and Maybelle Quarles of Rocky Face, Larry and Eve Quarles of Chatsworth, Charlie and Elaine Sisson of Tunnel Hill; daughters and son-in-law, DeAnna and Pastor Ronald Peal of Patrick Springs, Va.; Donna Young of Calhoun; brothers, Edgar Quarles of Subligna, Herbert and Deloris Quarles of Dalton; sister, Inez McNeese of Dalton; special sister-in-law, Edna Green; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from North Whitfield Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Lillard Stringer and Jeremiah Quarles officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Valley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
