Ida Mayo Youngner Obituary

Ida Mayo Youngner, age 84, of Rocky Face, GA, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024, at Hamilton Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Collins Mayo and Helen Minnie Mayo; her husband of 45 years, Tom Youngner; sisters, Bird Mayo and Beth Mayo; brother, Frank Mayo.

Ida was a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a generous volunteer of her time, especially toward foster children. Ida was very involved in teaching Sunday school and was very active in the naturalization court when new immigrants became citizens. She was very active in honoring returning Vietnam soldiers in a time when these soldiers were being mistreated. Ida was an active member of several organizations to include: Daughters of the American Colonists, St. John Perish, Fort Federick Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Indian Wars, Hereditary Order of Descendants of Colonial Governors, Daughters of 1812, National Society of New England Women, National Society of Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Colonial Dames the XVII Century, Huntley National Association, St. Augustine Genealogical Society, Sovereign Colonial Society of Americans of Royal Descent, National Society Women Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company

She was a lifelong Episcopalian and believed the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ida is survived by her son, Frank Youngner; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bob Garby; sister, Frances Reddell; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Phyllis Mayo; grandchildren, Frank Youngner Jr., Helen Garby, Tim Garby; special nieces, Cindy Stricker, Becky Mayo, Dawn Mayo. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.

To honor Ida's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered on her property in Sublette County, Wyoming. No services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, trees planted in her memory would be Ida's wish.
