Dalton, Georgia - Mr. Hiram Douglas Gazaway, 87, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris. Hiram is survived by his wife, Margaret. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Dustin Strickland, and his grandson, Parker Riley Strickland, all of Hickory, North Carolina. Other survivors include his brothers, Hoyt Gazaway of Dalton, and Nerff Gazaway of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and his sister, Eloise Gazaway of Dalton. Hiram was a veteran of the United States Air Force. After 28 years with I.B.M., he 'retired,' although he continued to pursue varied careers in other fields, actually retiring at the age of 82.
