Chattanooga, TN - Fred Mayfield, age 78, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his wife Olivia Kenemer, and his parents, William Claude and Mary Frances Mayfield.

Fred was born April 23, 1947, in Cleveland, Tennessee, and was raised in the Conasauga community. He was baptized at Waterville Baptist Church in Cleveland, with his brother Randy. Fred attended Conasauga School, in Conasauga, City Park and Fort Hill in Dalton, and was a 1965 graduate of Dalton High School. Fred graduated from West Georgia College in 1969. He served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Germany. Fred began his accounting career at Deliotte, Haskins and Sales, later joining Mr. Hudgins to form the Hudgins and Mayfield firm, before establishing Fred Mayfield & Company in 1979. He was a gentleman farmer, horseman, avid skier who loved the outdoors, his family, and chosen family of friends and clients, and his cherished pets. Fred was the kind of man that could truly be referred to as a "renaissance man". He was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and in his last years, a faithful attender of Salem Baptist Church of Dalton.

He is survived by his son, Joshua Claude Mayfield; daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth Anne Mayfield, and Amy M. Mayfield-Cox and Mitchell Cox; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Renee Mayfield; grandson, Holden Mackey; life companion, Rhonda Gage, and "office wife", Gayle Parks; he is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Postell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Burial will be held in Tennga Baptist Church Cemetery.
