Eva Lou Rivers Obituary

MOTHER EVA LOU BETTON RIVERS-AGE 106, - Of Dalton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Mother Rivers was born on January 2, 1917, in Eton, GA. She was preceded by her parents, Josh Betton and Claudia Ramsey Betton, husband, Rev. Curtis Rivers, Sr., her two daughters, Mary Frances Pinson Brown, and Claudette Rivers King.


Survivors are her loving children, Curtis Rivers, Jr., Robert James (Helen) Rivers, Sr., Teresa Ray; nephews, David (Ollie) Betton, Bernard (Cheryl) Betton, Terry Lee Betton; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, twenty-six great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.


Celebration of Life for Mother Rivers will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00 P. M. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2014 M. L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton, GA 30721 with Bishop Nicky Paul Starling as Eulogist and Dr. Jerry Jones as Presider. Her remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday after 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 P. M. Interment, West Hill Cemetery.
