Dalton, GA - Mrs. Emily Marsene Lindsay, 73, left this world behind for God's grace and a perfect set of angel wings on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Walnut Creek Personal Care Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Robert and Harvey Maples, and her husband, Larry Lindsay.
A lifelong second grade educator, Marsene loved teaching her students to read and the art of beautiful handwriting. She taught 30 plus years for Whitfield County Schools, the majority of those years at Antioch Elementary School. She was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church.
Growing up, Marsene found joy in spending time at her parents' beloved mountain cabin. Tubing on Mountaintown Creek, attending fall festivals in Blue Ridge/Ellijay, and riding motorcycles and in Jeeps were some of her favorite times.
Without question she is spending her time now in her renewed body, cooking southern dishes with her momma by her side once again - this time in heaven's kitchen, savoring her daddy's homegrown tomatoes, teaching God's children and spending her days singing all of her beloved hymns.
Her legacy and love will live on in the hearts of Marsene's cherished niece, with whom she had an incredibly special bond, Amy Blankenship, and her husband, Clint Blankenship, of Dalton. The light in her days until the very end was her great-niece, Sailor Blankenship. From traveling to the beach annually, shopping, crafting and spending two or more days together each week, their love for one another was endearing and deep.
Special friends include Connie Babb, Kenneth and Susan Blankenship, Betty Wilson, Rhonda Brown, Lynn Henderson and Bill Henderson.
The family would like to thank the outstanding staff of Walnut Creek Personal Care Home and Amedysis Hospice for caring for Marsene in her final days. Also, to thank her former caregrivers and friends at Dalton Square.
A funeral service to honor the life of Marsene will be held Friday, September 18 at 1:00 PM at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating and Craig Babb, Matt Blankenship, Shane Stanley, and Curtis Wheat serving as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
Former students and teacher friends are encouraged to attend. The family will have green ribbons for everyone to wear in honor of Marsene's favorite color.
