Dora Mae Jones Stalans of Knoxville, Tennessee, who was born on May 5, 1938, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 7, 2025. She faithfully served as a minister's wife alongside her husband, John for 26 years in churches in East Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia. As a devoted member of John Sevier Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served as treasurer. She retired from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. She enjoyed helping and giving to others, as well as baking, cooking, and visiting the CC Playhouse. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and if someone was going to the beach, then she was ready to go too. Dora was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherished by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Minnie Jones; parents, Jay and Ruth Stalans; sister, Barbara Copeland; husband, Dr. John Stalans; twin sons, Dennis and Kennis Stalans; and granddaughter, Cara-Beth Spencer Stalans. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Cheryl Stalans of Rocky Face, GA; grandsons, Christopher Stalans (Whitney) of Chattanooga, TN and Corley Stalans (Shelby) of Cleveland, TN; great-grandchildren, Lainey Grace Stalans, John Thomas Stalans, William Parker Stalans, and soon- to-be Arabella Rose Stalans; sisters, Faye Thomas, Mary Nell Stalans, and Sharon Karnes (Bobby); brothers-in-law, Larry Stalans (Ruth) and Robert Copeland; sister-in-law, Pam Berry; special niece, Donna Williams; special friend, Aubrey Cassidy; and several other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, March 10, 2025, at Rose Funeral & Cremation Broadway. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at John Sevier Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Our family wishes to thank the staff of Covenant Hospice for helping our mother through her final days. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in her memory to John Sevier Baptist Church or Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
