Phillip "David" Edelman, born March 10, 1949, joined his beloved sister, Bernice and his parents Benjamin and Frances Ginsberg Edelman on February 12, 2025. David was a native of Dalton, Georgia, where he reveled in his memories of attending school at City Park, Fort Hill, and Dalton High. It was in Dalton at his parents' jewelry store, Sterling Jewelers, that David learned his craft of selling fine jewelry throughout the United States. Beginning his stellar career at Service Merchandise, he later worked at Neiman Marcus for over 30 years in Miami Beach, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, and Dallas, Texas.
David graduated from the University of Georgia in 1971 with a degree in business from the Terry College of Business and a minor in landscape architecture. He enjoyed many close friendships with his fraternity brothers of Alpha Epsilon Pi. Proud to be of the Jewish faith, he often happily reminisiced about his bar mitzvah and attending Temple Beth-El.
David was an excellent salesman, often described as the "best in the business," a keeper of the history of his beloved hometown, an avid, successful investor in the stock market, a devoted brother who spent years caring for his dying sister, a friend who loved unconditionally, and a staunch advocate of his faith and heritage.
He is survived by his brother, Lou Edelman, several cousins, and many lifelong friends. A memorial service in Dallas, Texas, will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please remember David by giving to your favorite charity.
