Mr. Clayton Rice
April 4, 1936 - July 19, 2025
Clayton Rice, 89, of Dalton, passed away peacefully in his home on July 19, 2025. He was born on April 7, 1936 in Leslie County, Kentucky. Clayton was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love, as he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Holly; three children, Brenda Rice (Michael Stallwood), Coley Brookshire (Tracy), and Kimberly Rice; and four grandchildren, Sidney Gross, Austin Brookshire, Hunter Brookshire, and Bella Rice. He will be missed dearly. A master diesel mechanic, he owned and operated Northwest Truck Service for 50 years. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Mark Amspaugh, will be held on July 25 at 1:00 at Dalton 1st Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held at Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Cleveland Rd., on July 24 at 5:00 to 8:00.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
