Beverly Ann Acres Obituary

Greensboro, North Carolina - Beverly Ann Hoopaugh Acres passed away peacefully on November 4th in Greensboro, NC after a period of declining health. Born in Gainesville, GA to Curtis S. Hoopaugh and Reba L. White, she attended Lyman Hall School

from 1st grade through high school graduation. She was predeceased by her parents and older sister Barbara.

After a whirlwind courtship, she married Den M. Acres, Jr., and had two children, Karil and Denny. In 1965, the family relocated to Dalton, GA where she resided for more than 60 years. Beverly established a successful tax and bookkeeping business, Acres Tax Service. She still found time to volunteer at each school her children attended, and was an ardent Catamount Club Member and Band Parent. It was rare for her to miss a game or performance. She spent many hours chaperoning field trips, working in the health room, being a scout parent, and taxi service to her kids and their friends. One of her many skills was playing a ferociously competitive game of bridge.

She helped with her grandchildren almost constantly when they were small and had close bonds with them. Mimi - as they lovingly called her - often let the grandkids play in the yard all day in their Batman pajamas and cowboy boots. Eventually, her favorite pastime became shopping, and she really excelled. She was always stylishly dressed and accessorized.

Beverly and her family joined First Baptist Church upon arrival in Dalton, where she was a faithful member for almost 60 years and bravely taught 6th grade Sunday School. She was a member of the Calvin Shaw Sunday School class and derived great comfort from the meaningful lessons and her friendships there. She also enjoyed the New Horizons group and activities.

She is survived by Karil Kaylor (Leroy) of Greensboro, NC and Den M. Acres, III (Tana) of Dalton, GA, grandsons Brian Kaylor (Chris), Eric Kaylor (Caroline), IV Acres and Evan Acres. She is also survived by her niece Kendall Thompson and great niece Lindsey Wiles.

Beverly requested a private burial alongside her family in Gainesville GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Dalton or Providence Ministries.
