Barbara Ione Christensen Walden was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2022 at age 75.

Barbara was born to missionaries Ralph and Helen Christensen on April 22, 1947 in St. Charles, IL. She grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa as the oldest of six children. She excelled at academics. Barbara returned to the U.S. to attend Wheaton College (IL) then earned a M.A. in School Counseling at Seattle Pacific University.

Barbara loved serving. She was an active volunteer in church choirs, as a Sunday School teacher, and especially caring for the elderly. She enjoyed cooking healthy meals and setting up her home in a way that invited inquiry and learning for her five children. She was a skilled piano player and often taught piano lessons. Barbara is fondly remembered for her warm smile, gentle demeanor, and heart of generosity. She is survived by her husband (Art Walden of Dalton, GA) and children (Leilani Hall, Estelle Lockhart, and Rachel McCoy). She is predeceased by her children T. Kristine Chandler and Jeremy Sylvester.
