Robert T. "Och" Ochoa, 83, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and formerly of Varnell, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.
A lifelong Cubs fan, Bob celebrated a long-awaited World Series Championship last season with his beloved team. Bob celebrated life, even parachuting out of a plane on his 75th birthday. Always ready with a joke, kind word or a shoulder to lean on, Bob left a piece of his heart with every person he met.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Lawson Ochoa of Chattanooga; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jill Ochoa of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Stella Bartle of California; brothers, Richard Gutierrez and David Gutierrez, both of California; two grandchildren, Emily and Riley Ochoa; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the service time at 3 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
