James 'Jimmy''s Story
Mr. James "Jimmy" Reed, 84, of Chatsworth, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, surrounded by family.
Jimmy founded Reed Lumber Company in 1978. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of Chatsworth Masonic Lodge 664.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lofton and Ida Burger Reed; brothers, George, T.P. and Lindy Reed. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marie Harrison Reed; daughter, Maria Reed Bradley; sons, David Reed and Danny Reed; sons and daughter-in-laws, Dale and Vickie Reed, Joel and Kathy Reed, Bruce and Renee' Reed, Alan and Connie Reed, all of Chatsworth; sisters, Louise Reed Swafford of East Ridge, Tenn., and Doris Reed Dempsey of Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Nick and Maranda Reed, Miranda and Nathan Cleaver, Tori and Travis Ashe, Joseph and Celia Reed, Alex and Amanda Reed, Haley and Josh Simmons, Brandon and Jennifer Reed, Alecia Reed and Will Bradley; great-grandchildren, Walker, Blakely and Griffin Reed, Tristan, Tessa Grace, Tayden Reed, Elijah Reed, Chandler Simmons, Ben and Andrew Reed.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. James "Jimmy" Reed will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Reed-Morrison Cemetery with full military honors from Chatsworth American Legion Post 167. Chatsworth Masonic Lodge will perform graveside rites.
