Gerald's Story

Gerald C. Jerry Hindman, 75, of Dalton, Georgia and Murphy passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in a Dalton hospital. He was a native of Cherokee County, but lived most of his life in Dalton where he worked in technical service for Textile Rubber & Chemical Company for nearly 50 years. Gerald loved nature which included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was kind and loving, always putting others first. He was a giver at heart. Gerald also loved and cared for his family.
He was the son of the late Ralph Hampton Hindman and Clara Kincaid Gosnell. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra McArthur and Janice Plott; and four brothers, Doug, Bill, Delbert, and David Gosnell.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Deanna Allen Hindman; two daughters, Teresa Sullivan and husband, Johnny of Ellijay, Georgia and Tonya Barton and husband, Jason of Dalton; two sisters, Carolyn Lovingood and husband, Tom of Douglasville, Georgia and Donna Jean Dean of Greenville, Tennessee; three brothers, Frank Hindman of Rome, Georgia, Mike Hindman of Marietta, Georgia, and Gary Gosnell; three grandchildren, Logan Stancill, Tiffany Baker, and Kacee Sullivan; and three great grandchildren, Mairyanna Rios, and Isabella and Owen Baker.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Carroll Weaver officiating. The interment will be at a later date at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Gerald C. Jerry Hindman to the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Cook, 1386 Cook Bridge Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
