Winnifred Jane's Story
Winnifred Jane Parker Webb was a precious gift to many people spread across several states. Wherever she was, she brought joy and encouragement to others. Her smile and exuberant sense of humor enriched the lives of friends, family and even relative strangers. She especially delighted in being very observant of the interests people have and then giving thoughtful gifts related to those interests.
Jane was born June 10, 1949, in Brunswick. Jane was adopted by Rodney and Gertrude Parker and grew up in Brunswick, where she graduated from Glynn Academy and attended the nursing program at Brunswick Junior College. When her father experienced a heart attack, Jane ended her nursing education to help care for him.
Brunswick remained her hometown until 1973 when she met and married her husband, Gary Webb. Since Gary was on active duty with the Navy, they later moved to Jacksonville, Fla.
Following having a stroke and receiving outstanding and compassionate care from the staff at Hamilton Medical Center, Dalton, she entered the presence of the Lord on the morning of July 21, 2017.
During her 43 years of marriage to Gary Webb, she was a supportive wife while he served in the U.S. Navy and while serving as pastor of four Baptist churches. She was a loving mother to their son, Joshua, and was thrilled by his choice of Jennifer Young to become his bride.
Jane donated her body for medical research at the Georgia Medical College in Augusta. Her memorial service will be an informal time of remembrance and reflection on her beloved St. Simons Island. The exact time is yet to be determined.
