William's Story

William Alfred Higgins, 85, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017.
He was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Berryton, to the late Rev. Floyd and Hattie Mae Higgins. After serving in the United States Air Force, he was employed by National Linen Service and Mayfield Dairy Farms. He retired from Mayfield's after 22 years of service as a route salesman.
Bill was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. In retirement, Bill enjoyed playing golf while working part time at The Farm, Council Fire and Brown Acres Golf courses.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Magalene Day Higgins; and wife, Sandy Grant Higgins. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Parker.
Survivors include his daughter, Lynne (Tom) Latimore; son, Stacey (Susan) Higgins; granddaughter, Katy (Hunter) Reed; stepdaughter, Liz Hedges; and several nieces.
Services are Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Julian officiating. Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Cemetery in Ringgold.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
