Mrs. Virginia "Snooks" Nance Sloan, 89, of Dalton, departed this life Wednesday evening, Sept. 6, 2017, at the local hospital.
Virginia was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Whitfield County, a daughter of the late J.D. and Floy Dooly Nance. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Billy Sloan; a sister, Joan Patterson; and a brother, Stroud Nance.
Virginia was a graduate of Valley Point High School and was retired from Dependable Rug where she worked until she was 80 years old. Virginia lived a quiet life that was defined by hard work. She was a very hard worker.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Silvers of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cathy Sloan of Shelbyville, Tenn.; granddaughter and her husband, Hillery and Brandon Waldon; great-grandchildren, Branson and Jade Waldon, all of Calhoun; sisters, Martha Lynn Edwards, Pat Franklin and Darlene Longley; brothers and sister-in-law, John R. Nance, J.D. "Bud" Nance and Dennis and Nina Nance, all of Dalton; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Virginia "Snooks" Nance Sloan are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Jerry Smith and Chris Franklin officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Fain Cemetery with Brandon Waldon, Ricky Barkley, Scott Edwards, Darren Edwards, Bruce Parrott and Christopher Franklin serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday until the service hour.
