Ulmer Louise McKinley Allen

November 13, 1918 - March 12, 2019

Ulmer Louise McKinley Allen Mrs. Ulmer Louise McKinley Allen, of Dalton, Georgia, and formerly of Cordele, Georgia, passed away Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019 at the age of 100, at Ridgewood Manor Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Allen was married to the late Procter Allen, and is survived by her four children, Elaine Allen Reinka (Doug) of Sedona, Arizona, Marilyn Allen Cannister (Jimmy) of Waycross, Georgia, Procter McKinley Allen (Trisha) of Dalton, Georgia, and Keith Franklin Allen (Kristy) of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren, Susan Coughenour, Ed Fincher, Leeanna Allen, Matt Allen, Bradley Allen, and Brent Allen; great-grandchildren, Graydon and Claire Coughenour, Eden, Avery and Harrison Fincher.

Born in Greene County, Georgia, on November 13, 1918, Louise was the second of six children of Ulmer O'Neal McKinley and James Lawson McKinley. She attended Georgia Women's College in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she obtained a degree in education. After teaching for over 26 years in Georgia schools, mostly in Crisp County, Louise retired in 1981. She was inducted into the Alpha Delta Kappa Honor Society in 1967.

While living in Cordele, she was an active member of Penia Baptist Church. She remained active in retirement, devoting many hours as a Hospital Auxiliary "Pink Lady" volunteer at Crisp Regional Hospital, and enjoying gardening, reading, and needlework.

Mrs. Allen relocated to Dalton, Georgia, in November 2010. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Gardens at Royal Oaks, Ridgewood Manor Health and Rehabilitation, and Hamilton Hospice for the love and care provided to Louise.

A memorial service will be held in Cordele, Georgia, at a time to be determined.
