Thalia's Story

Thalia C. Bundros, 83, peacefully passed away November 6, 2017 at home in the presence of her family.

She was born in Burlington, North Carolina on November 14, 1933 as the sixth child of Greek immigrants, Angelo and Amelia Collins (Callinicos) from Ithaca, Greece.  She graduated from Walter Williams High School in Burlington, NC.  She met and married the love of her life, Anthony Bundros in 1953.  They were together for 62 years until his passing in May 2016.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jimmy, Nick, and Chris Collins, and sister, Tasia Pefanis.  

She is survived by her sister Rena Xillas of A?mbridge, PA; son, Tom (and Lara) Bundros of Dalton, GA; daughter, Maria (and Steve) Chininis of Peachtree Corners, GA and son, Evan (and Maria) Bundros of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Anthony Bundros, Anna Grace Bundros, Elias (and Alyssa) Chininis, Amalea Chininis, Evan Chininis, Luke Bundros and Jamie Bundros.

She was a faithful and active member of the Greek Orthodox faith at The Dormition of the Theotokos in Greensboro, NC, where she served on the Parish Council and the Philoptochos Women's Group? and was honored with the Archangel Michael award?.  She remained active with gardening in her yard, playing bridge with close friends, and visiting with family.

Visitation for family and friends will be at The Dormition of The Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in Greensboro Thursday night, November 9, from 6PM to 8PM.  A Trisagion Prayer will be held at 7 PM during the visitation.  

Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10:30AM at The Dormition of the Theotokos with internment following at Alamance Memorial Park and concluded with a Makaria reception at the Church.
