Robert's Story

Mr. Robert "Bob" Scarbrough, 83, of Dalton, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017.
Bob retired from the United States Department of Commerce, was owner of Bruce Werts Wholesale Meats, a United States Army veteran, member of many affiliations including the board of directors of Sun Bank of Florida, Kiwanis Club, Fort Mountain Estates POA and vice president of Hammond Creek Condo HOA and also a real estate broker. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by parents, Theron and Jane Scarbrough; and a sister, Mickie Hopper.
Mr. Scarbrough is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eileen Werts Scarbrough; children, Gwen K. Shonkwiler and Steve Thomas of Reno, Nev., Bruce and Bahareh Scarbrough of Walnut Creek, Calif., Bill and Laura Scarbrough of Woodstock, Gary and Cheeka Scarbrough of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Jessica Gleaton of Walnut Creek, Calif.; Erin Nuckolls of Reno, Nev., Lahdan Scarbrough of Washington, D.C., Jane Scarbrough and Anna Scarbrough, both of Woodstock; great-grandchildren. Damien Nuckolls of Reno, Nev.; brother, Thomas F. Scarbrough of Cumming; sister, Linda McDaniel of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Mr. Bob Scarbrough are Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Father Paul Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
