Mr. Ralph Earnest Thomas, 73, of Dalton, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Hamilton Medical Center.
Ralph enjoyed traveling, fishing and golf.
Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a Life Member of the VFW No. 4985 of Dalton, Life Member of the American Legion Post No. 167 of Chatsworth, past quarter master, past post commander, past district commander and past state commander of Georgia. He was also a member of the Trenton Masonic Lodge No. 179 F&AM.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Thomas and Nellie Cureton Thomas; three brothers; three sisters; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bert Sanford and Laura Jane Bailey Sanford; and brother-in-law, Arnold Sanford.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Trish" Sanford Thomas of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Porter and Regina Durham of Dalton; special nieces, Tammie Gray and Tina Smith; cousins, Charlotte and Dot of Bridgeport, Ala.; special friends and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Thomas will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Bell, the Rev. Mitchell Gaston and Edward Kenny officiating. Interment will follow in the Crook-Sanford Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 167 of Chatsworth.
The family will receive friends today from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Peeples Funeral Home.
