R. L. Farner,89, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Irene P. Farner; brothers, Lesley, Wesley Johnny, Paul and Fred Farner; and sisters, Veda Dockery, Mildred Bates, Onabee Ledford and Louise Cheatham.
He was a member of Good Samaritan Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Robert Jackson and Kathey and Mike Whaley, all of Dalton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sue Farner of Cohutta and Kymon and Phyllis Farner of Dalton; sister, Mary Hamby of Telico Plains, Tenn.; grandchildren, Tim and Mary Farner, Chris Farner, Larry W. and Jennifer Farner, Anthony and Danielle Farner, Tracie and Keith Dempsey, Carol and Wes Faulkenberry, Russell and Shalina Jackson, Mary Anne and Brian Whitmore and Jenifer and Scott Ward; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Farner will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with pastor Arthur Corbin and the Rev. Tommy Brown officiating. Burial will be in Dawnville United Methodist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Tim Farner, Wes Faulkenberry, Chris Farner, Anthony Farner, Russell Jackson, Larry W. Farner, Keith Dempsey, Scott Ward and Brian Whitmore.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on today from 11 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m.
