Mr. Billie's Story

MR. BILLIE AARON PRATER Age 86, of Cohutta, Georgia, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was the son of the late Mr. Ben Houston Prater, Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Porter Prater. He was retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service, member of the Dalton Masonic Lodge #238, a lifelong member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church in Cohutta, Georgia. He was a retired Board Member of The Praters Mill Foundation in Varnell, Georgia. Mr. Prater was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Thelma Naomi Reynolds Prater, brother, Ben H. Prater, Jr., sisters, Minnie Black, Lucy Carter, and Mattie Sivels.

He is survived by his loving family, daughter, Teresa Burse of Dalton, Georgia, son, Aaron L. (C. Yvonne) Prater of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Candace (Kevin) Dixon, Terence Skillern, Temeka Skillern, Jermaine Burse, Ariel Prater, Anton Prater, Amond (Krystal) Prater; great grandchildren, Rashawn, Malik, Naquay, Peyton, Kamri, Aryn, Anaya; sister, Beulah V. (Joe) Burke; one goddaughter, Blessin Parker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:30 A. M. in the Chapel with Rev. Rodney Weaver officiating. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Monday after 11:00 A. M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 8:00 P. M. Interment at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:00 P. M. with full Military Rites. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his honor and memory to the Praters Mill Foundation, Inc., P. O. Drawer H, Varnell, Georgia 30756.
