Minister E.'s Story
Minister E. Roger MacKenzie age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday evening, April 13, 2017 at the local hospital. Roger was born May 13, 1927 in Saskatchewan, Canada, a son of the late Norman and Gaeton Major MacKenzie. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Carnelle P. MacKenzie, second wife, Shelbia Jean Yates MacKenzie, brothers, Keith MacKenzie, Donald MacKenzie, sister, Gladys McMackon. He was a member of the Riverbend Church of Christ where is served as Minister for the past fifteen years.
He is survived by his son, Roger M. MacKenzie of Roswell, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Jeanne and Tim Greer of Nashville, TN; brother, Ross MacKenzie of Ontario, Canada; sister, Carol MacKenzie of British Columbia; grandchildren, Greg Greer, Sgt. First Class Brent Greer, Staci and Ben Thrasher, Mike and Kristen MacKenzie, Dr. Allison and Josh Smith, Jonathan and Tabitha MacKenzie, Davis MacKenzie, Luke MacKenzie; great grandchildren David MacKenzie, Chase MacKenzie, Charlee MacKenzie, MacKenzie Smith, EmmaKate Smith, Brayden Thrasher, Greyson Thrasher; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Minister E. Roger MacKenzie will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Riverbend Church of Christ. He will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will follow at Donnell Cemetery in Auburntown, TN at 4:00 p.m. Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the funeral home.
