Mary Jane Taylor
December 14, 1927 - October 01, 2018
"her dear sweet husband", Arthur H. Taylor, Jr. to whom she was married for 64 years. Born in Beaver Falls, Pa., December 14, 1927 to Stephen and Helen Carody. Mary Jane is the last surviving sibling of Steven Carody, Helen Clark and Margie Martinez.
She is survived by her loving children; Maureen MacBride, Cathleen and Bob Lewis, Eileen Davis ( late J. Blackwell "Blackie" Davis, Jr.), Arthur and Christine Taylor and Tom Taylor. Grandchildren; Maggie and Neil Tkatch, Annie and Steve Clark, Mary Browse and Justin Roxer and Tommy and Alexandra Davis. Great-grandchildren; Quinn Tkatch, Benny Clark, Liam Blood, Sydney Roxer, Charlie Roxer and Blackwell "Wells" Davis.
Mary Jane lived a full and happy life. Reading, gardening, needle point, feeding the birds were daily pleasures. During the 1960's, she was encouraged to teach exercise classes at the YMCA in New Brighton, Pa. Mary Jane worked many years with her husband at the family owned clothing store - Taylor's in Beaver Falls, PA. She was a loyal Volunteer at Hamilton Medical Center for 35 years, longtime member of Beaver Vally Country Club and the Dalton Golf and Country Club, member of Dalton Garden Club, an active member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church; working diligently on special programs: The Roman Open Golf Tournament and St. Joseph Fest. Mary Jane was a member of The National Association of Men's Sportswear Buyers for 40 years. She will always be known as "the Fragrance Lady" at Loveman's - Proffits - Belks Department store in Dalton.
Mary Jane lived at Royal Oaks and The Gardens. Most recently she was a resident of Regency Park Health and Rehabilitation, where she was loved by all.
Visitation will be at Ponders Funeral Home, Saturday, October 13th, 2-7:00 p.m. with Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass for burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Monday, October 15th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Monday October 15. 2018.
