Johnnie  Sue


Local Country Music Legend and T.V. Personality, "Johnnie Sue", of Rocky Face, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 10, 2019. She was lifetime resident of North Georgia and member of North Whitfield Missionary Baptist Church. Johnnie Sue loved her Savior, her family, her friends and of course, her music. She always loved to share her talents with others, playing and singing. Johnnie Sue was actively involved with a number of organizations including the Truck Stop Ministries, Share America Foundation, Boynton Lions Club, and countless churches and benefits. Johnnie Sue has performed at numerous venues and has performed with countless acts including Con Hunley, Billy Joe Royal, Earl Thomas Conley, John Anderson, Ronnie McDowell, David Allen Coe, Waylon Jennings, Gene Watson, Garth Brooks, Roger Allen Wade, Travis Tritt, and Julio Igelesis. She was a member of the Atlanta Society of Entertainers, an inductee into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and the Library of Congress while receiving many other awards and recognitions during her life. Johnnie Sue was known for her larger than life personality and faith in God. There was only one "Johnnie Sue" and if you ever met her you will never forget her sense of humor and her addictive personality. She was an inspiration to so many and will forever have a place in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose Bud Bomar. Johnnie Sue is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Mark Mackie; sister, Marjorie Cordle; brothers, Rev. Riley (Mary) Bomar, Sammy (Sarah Jo) Bomar; grandchildren, Ryan Hamrick, Tanner Gable and Rance Gable; God-grandchildren, Zachary Chasse and Breanna Banks; several nieces and nephews and innumerable special friends and musicians.
The family will receive friends 4-8 P.M. Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Ringgold Depot. A special time of music will be from 7-8 P.M. at the Depot with Randall Franks, Chris McDaniel and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-3 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Subligna with Bro. J.T. Sanders and Bro. Chuck Romain officiating. Interment will follow at Subligna Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia. An online register book may be signed at
