Ms. Jeraldine Hooker Welch, 67, of Dalton, departed this life Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Cohutta, with her family by her side. Jeraldine was born Jan. 20, 1950, in Dalton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Pauline "Tommie" Towel Hooker and Charlie and Belle Hooker; sisters, Barbara Davidson and Patricia Louise Hooker; brother, Edwin Mathis; and a nephew, Michael Ridings. Jeraldine worked many years as a CNA at Fort Oglethorpe Nursing Home. Jeraldine had a challenging life and never gave up. Her time was spent taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne and Misty Bramblett, Eddie and Bonnie Bramblett and Kenny and Tiffany Welch; daughters and son-in-law, Elaine Bell and Lisa and Rusty Jenkins; grandchildren that Jeraldine raised, Michael and Brittney Bramblett, Christopher Bramblett, Dewayne Bramblett Jr. and Tiffany and Anthony Seiber; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Charlene Hooker, Ronnie and Lois Woods, J.L. Starks and Michael and Brenda Starks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina Kimble, Jackie and Ray Swilling and Charlene and Toby King; special nieces, Lavonia Flowers and Tammy Youngblood; daughter-in-law, Betsy Walden; very special angel, Rayvan Carpenter; very special friends, Brenda Houston, Glenda Weaver, Jorge and Nora Hernandez, Tenna Fraire, Tiffany Green and Angie Cowart; grandchildren, Lacie Bramblett, Adam and Amanda Bramblett, Colin Jenkins, Mattie Jenkins and Tucker Sumner; special great-grandchildren, Ranger and Morgan Bramblett; 18 great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Jeraldine Hooker Welch will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Maple Grove Baptist Church, 344 Maple Grove Road N.W., Dalton, with the Rev. Tony Robertson and the Rev. Roger Baker officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved sister, Barbara, at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Her close family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5 until 9 p.m. today and at Maple Grove Baptist Church after noon Wednesday until the service hour.
