Mr. James Daniel Olszyk, better known as Haney by his family and friends, 77, of Calhoun, Georgia, and formerly of Dalton, departed this life on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Gordon Hospital.
Haney was born in Dalton, Georgia on February 22, 1950 to the late Joseph Olszyk and Mary Isbelle Allen. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred Talley Olszyk; and a sister, Claudette Alavilez.
He was a well known car sales man in the Dalton area most recently working with Pye Auto Group. Prior to car sales, he and his wife Mildred owned and operated Haneys Green Pro Hardware Store in downtown Dalton.
Haney is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Susan and James Hughes of Calhoun, Georgia, Pauline Jefferson of Baltimore, Maryland; brothers and sister-in-law, Jackie and Pam Lowery of Calhoun, Georgia, and Abrie Lowery of Dalton, Georgia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Ronald Headrick of Dalton, Georgia; nieces, Jaclyn Morgan and Meagan Blalock all of Calhoun; nephew, James Jefferson of Baltimore, Maryland.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Daniel Haney Olszyk will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Brother George Cross officiating. Haney will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery alongside his beloved wife Mildred with Cody Blalock, Zac Walden, James Hughes, Joseph Dell, Paul McKnight, and Kris Richner serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
