Mr. Jackie Dewayne Newby, 75, of Tunnel Hill, departed this life Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the local hospital.
Jackie was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Chattanooga, a son of the late Jack Riley and Hazel Lorraine. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, Andre and Richard Newby; sisters, Marcia Gail Steel and Dorothy Keef.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Newby of the residence; daughter, Julie Newby Ausmus of Chickamauga; sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Melinda Newby of Chickamauga, Tommy and Tanya Newby; stepsons, Steven Lloyd, Craig Lloyd of Rocky Face; brother and sister-in-law, Eldun and Marsha Newby of Rocky Face; sisters-in-law, Tammy Newby of Nashville, Tenn., Tina Sampson of Ringgold, Cindy Newby of Chatsworth; brother-in-law, Roy Keef of Ringgold; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jackie Dewayne Newby are Friday at 2 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church with Brother Keeley Hasty and Dr. Garry Hill officiating. He will be at the church after 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Tommy Newby, Jackie Newby, Eldun Newby, Christian Newby, Chase Newby and Preston Ausmus serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
