Howard E. "Ed" Hammontree, 87, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in a local hospital.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. Ed retired from Jones Printing Co. in Chattanooga. He also served as a deputy sheriff in Georgia. He was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Starlin and Irene Gray Hammontree.
Survivors include his wife, Winell Hammontree of Tennessee; sons, Mike Hammontree and Randy Hammontree, both of Georgia; stepchildren, Roy Crabtree and Diane Sewell, both of Tennessee; brothers, Rayford Hammontree and Junior Hammontree, both of Georgia; sister, Evelyn Cochran of Georgia; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
The service is Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Moore officiating. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
