Mrs. Helen Delores Reed, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born in Dalton, Georgia on May 27, 1936 a daughter to the late Floyd and Florence Sumner Green. She was preceded by her loving husband Tommy Douglas Reed and brothers Charles and J.W. Green and a sister Anelle Green. Helen was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and worked for 26 years for the Dalton Police Department as a crossing guard.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law; Kathy and Scott Harden of Dalton, GA, a son and daughter in law; Steven and Kathy Reed of Dalton, GA, grandson and his wife; Shawn and Jessica Reed also of Dalton, GA., great grandchildren; Lamar, Jennifer, Christopher, and Ariana Reed, Alex Howard, a sister and brother in law; Erlene and Treen Coffey of Dalton, GA and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her special care givers; Linda Thompson, Kristy Black and Dot and Rayford Couch.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Helen Delores Reed will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 30, 2017 at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Darey Kittle officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at West Hill Cemetery with Shawn Reed, Chris Miolen, Mark Raburn, Justin Davis, Bobby Reed, and Lamar Reed serving as pall bearers.
