Gordon Ownby, age 89, of Cohutta, Gods man, devoted husband, best dad and papaw, left pain behind and took on his new body, Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Anna Ownby; daughter, Betty Jean Ownby; brother, Loy Ownby.
Mr. Ownby was a member of Little Conasauga Baptist Church. Family and friends knew Gordon to be good, honest and full of fun. He loved telling tall tales, most of them true, some embellished as only he could. He loved doing the Lords work, served as deacon for many years, preached Gods word for the last 18 years. He served people because of his love for them through ministry and missions. He always took up for the underdog and gave encouragement for the less fortunate.
