Evelyn Griffin Cook Bandy, age 100, of Tunnel Hill, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tyson and Julia Griffin; brother, Bud Tyson Griffin; first husband, Oscar Cook; second husband, Kenneth Bandy; son-in-law, Charles Childers; daughter-in-law, Joan Cook.
She was a member of Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church. She was a legal secretary and also a secretary at Tunnel Hill Elementary School. Evelyn left a legacy to her family by loving the Lord. She showed kindness, love, and generosity to everyone.
She is survived by her 3 daughters and son-in-law, Judy and Larry Anderson, Jan Childers, Joetta Arnold, all of Tunnel Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Donna Cook of Dalton; step children, Anne Coultas of Cartersville, and Tom and Lisa Bandy of Cartersville; grandchildren, Cindy and Marty Jackson, Chris and Fran Cook, Craig and Shara Cook, Missy and Michael Rittenhouse, Amy and Kenneth Locke, Stacy Pardee, Brooke and Shawn Harrison, Jessica and C.A. Jones, Rebecca Bandy; great grandchildren, Aubrey Biddle, Jordi and Jay Motley, Brody and Parker Cook, Carson, Ansley, and Makina Cook, Will, Anthony, and Gary Rittenhouse, Patton and Cameron Locke, Paxton and Kooper Pardee, Hallie, Griffin, and Clay Harrison; one great-great grandchild, Beckham Ray Locke; adopted daughter, Carole Putnam; adopted granddaughter, Tracey Henson; special caregivers, Debbie Wilson, Michelle Kyle, Linda Hackney, Rhonda Mathis, Peggy Ellis, and Delores Rittenhouse.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Evelyn Griffin Cook Bandy will be held Tuesday, October 17th at 1:00 pm at Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. Tyson Griffin and Rev. Dewey Boyd officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Monday, October 16th, 2017 from 5:00 pm til 8:00 pm.
Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers and great grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made in Mrs. Bandys honor to the Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church Building Fund (Childrens Wing)
