Eugene Washington Cochran, age 87, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 25, 1931.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velma Cochran; daughter-in-law, Meredith Cochran; four brothers; four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Garner Cochran of Dalton; son, David Cochran of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Elder of Dalton, Sue and Brian Cavender of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, James and Myrtle Cochran of Dalton; brother-in-law, Jack Serritt of Rocky Face; grandchildren, Katie and Nick Carter, Stephanie and Shawn Rose, Christofer and Dana Cochran, Nikolas and Teresa Cochran, Justin and Morgan Elder, Hunter Cochran and Caleb Cochran; 14 great-grandchildren will serve as honorable pallbearers; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Eugene Washington Cochran will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2019, at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Darey Kittle and Pastor Tommy Deal officiating.
Interment will be at the Center Point Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019.
Grandsons serving as pallbearers include Christofer Cochran, Nikolas Cochran, Caleb Cochran, Justin Elder, Shawn Rose, and Nick Carter.
